The kids are back in school, football season has started, and there may even be a bit of a nip in the air where you are. For many, this is also the time of year to plan their Fall Foliage trip.
Fall is right around the corner, and before you know it, the leaves will be changing color, and putting on one of nature’s most vivid shows! It’s also an exciting time of year for many RVers and their families. Whether you’re driving in your motorhome, or doing some fall camping with your travel trailer or fifth wheel, there are many who consider this the best time of year to spend outdoors, and take to the road in an RV.
Here are some trips to consider if you’re thinking about checking out fall foliage in all it’s splendor!
MAPLES & MOUNTAINS TOUR – Maine – This tour begins in Naples, the heart of the Lakes Region, heads north to Pleasant Mountain , and continues north to South Paris. From there it’s on to Bethel, a classic New England village, and then south on Rt. 113 through the White Mountain National Forest to Evans Notch, which offers magnificent foliage panoramas of the White Mountains. After that it’s time to start heading south again to Fryeburg and then back to Naples again.
JACOB’S LADDER SCENIC BYWAY – Massachusetts – The Jacob’s Ladder Scenic Byway winds through the small towns of Russell, Huntington, Chester, Becket and Lee, providing views of the Wild and Scenic Westfield River along the way. Known also as the “Jacob’s Ladder Trail,” the route was designated a Massachusetts Scenic Byway in 1992.

APPALACHIAN FALL FOLIAGE TOUR – Ohio – When you think of fall foliage destinations, Ohio may not immediately come to mind, however it’s rated by many as a top location to see the leaves turn. The Appalachian Tour is just one of several you can take in Ohio.
FEATHER RIVER SCENIC BYWAY – California – The Feather River Scenic Byway begins in the lush Sacramento Valley, ascends to the dense forests and massive rock formations of the Sierra Nevadas and finishes among the vast open spaces in the Great Basin. Throughout the journey, visitors to the byway will experience history, outdoor activities, and stunning mountain and desert vistas.
